Miss Marjorie Hindes

1917 - 2007

It is with much sadness that we inform the members of the death of one of our honorary life members Miss Marjorie Hindes who died on 7th July 2007. Known to most as the owner and breeder of the ever famous Champion Burtonswood Bossy Boots.

Marjorie obtained her first St Bernard called Trudie (Cornagarth Coronet) from Mr Ken Gaunt. Trudie was trained in obedience.

Whilst at one of these shows Marjorie was advised to breed with Trudie, from that first litter in 1955 her first Champion was   produced, Ch Prima Dona of Burtonswood. Over the years Marjorie bred some twenty one Champions the most famous being Ch Burtonswood Bossy Boots who achieved the highest accolade Best In Show at Crufts in 1974.

Boots was from Ch Burtonswood Beloved x Ch Kuno Von Birkenkoph. She also kept a bitch from litter which went on to become a champion Ch Burtonswood Bossy Bess.

Marjorie worked as a nurse on permanent nights, Boots would go with her to work every evening and patiently wait in the car for her return in the morning when she came off duty.

After her retirement Marjorie would often be seen around the ringside of her beloved  breed, enjoying the company of saints and their owners. She was admitted to residential care in June 07 but died suddenly on 7th July 2007.
